Next Man Up - Latavion 15

I have always had a passion for music. Ever since a little girl in choir class I have been able to appreciate a melodic voice. My love for Elvis Presley, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake and Usher, (just to name a few) had me buying posters, concerts tickets and even magazines. The right voice can just melt your heart, pick you up or even settle you down. We all have a list of talented singers and songs that can get us through a long day. Today I wanted share the newest addition to my list, an artist that is really making an impression on me and everyone I share his music with. One of the best parts of this job is discovering new music from new artists. Having a chance to support an underground or independent artists along their journey makes me proud and it is a true honor to help shine some light on the very talented, Latavion 15.

Latavion is from the heart of the country, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That's the part of the country that truly understands the meaning of "Next Man Up". Well at least packer fans understand! Transitioning from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers then finding Jordan Love, Milwaukee has learned to have a little faith in the next man up and after being spoiled with legend after legend, Latavion has to be a special artist to be able to entertain a Milwaukee crowd.  Last night I found his Youtube channel and watched it all night. He literally has over 200 videos and I learned that Latavion can not only sing with the best of them but he also has top tier rap delivery. If you want me to compare him to an artist in the industry, my best comparison would have me suggesting Chris Brown. Latavion reminds me so much of C.B. with his ability to switch styles and the skill to spontaneously flip at any moment and put you into a Melodic trance.

Latavion is a special artist and it's only fitting that I get to launch a special announcement. Melodic Playground Radio has been exclusively broadcasting Meladik music only for the past 3 years. Finally DJ Meladik has opened the door for us to support other artists and after countless submissions we finally have an artist to introduce as the ground breaking talent worthy of being the 1st the non-Meladik artist to be featured on Melodic Playground Radio.

Latavion 15 released a hot joint called Chapters via Distro Kid and we were lucky enough to get it in rotation on Melodic Playground Radio. It's so good we will be playing it several times each day. The station is broadcasting 24 hours a day but we probably wont be able to play it enough. This track deserves so much shine. Raw talented with a good vibe message, deep provocative lyrics that leaving you wanting more. As much as I love Chapters, I think my favorite Latavion track is Red Heart. Press play on the video below called Red Heart and listen to Latavion switch it up on them and sing like he is about to take Chris Browns' spot. Take over the #1 spot like how Jordan Love took Aaron Rodgers spot....Listen to a few tracks and you will quickly see why I think Latavion is Milwaukee's the next man up.

Kings of Kush with Afro Man and Luniz

Do you remember where you were when you first heard Afro Man. Just thinking about the era, vibe and memories put a smile on my face. Afro Man's classic hit " Because I got High" wasn't just a jingle we couldn't stop humming, it became the joke for every missed homework assignment, for being late to work or even forgetting a friends Birthday. The song was bigger than music and had a cultural impact that reaches all ages and personalities.

Saturday April 13th the Dirt Dog Compound in the City of Commerce is giving us all an early holiday treat. In collaboration with Sucka Punch Productions, and OG Nation, Dirt Dog booked some of our favorite hip hop acts of the golden era. with Afro Man is headlining the show that is sure to be hot boxed like a 70's basement. Doors open at 6pm and you don't want to be late because I have no idea what time the RBL posse is set to open the show.

Normally the Luniz are headlining their shows so it looks like Kush Kings are giving us two headliners for price of one. " I got 5 on it" was just as big as "because I got high ". It would have been a bigger song if the Luniz had the internet in that era, never the less ,  the hit single still found a way to leave it ashes in the history books and we will have be lucky enough to see them perform one last time.
